Welcome to Mind and Art Psychology

The official website of Dr. Katherine G. Boyd, Psy.D., author of The ADHD Plus Phenomenon: When ADHD Isn't The Only Problem

At Mind and Art Psychology, we believe that healing happens through connection, expression, and understanding. We respect each person's unique identity, neurotype, and lived experience. Our integrative approach draws on evidence-based practices, scientific study, and the use of creative interventions. Our mission is to start open, honest conversations about neurodiversity, the realities of parenting, and what it actually takes to support growth and well-being. Our goal is to create a space where challenges are acknowledged, strengths are celebrated, creativity is encouraged, and practical strategies are shared to help families move forward with confidence.

About the Book

Now available!

Parenting a child with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can be exhausting and challenging. In Canada and the United States, close to 9 million children and teenagers have been diagnosed with this disorder, but most people don’t know that almost 80% of these kids will also have other mental health issues, making life harder inside and outside the home.

In The ADHD Plus Phenomenon, Dr. Katherine G. Boyd draws from her long career in pediatric mental health to help parents address these additional challenges, including:

    Behavioral or conduct problems
    Depression
    Anxiety
    Gaming and/or social media addiction
    Learning disabilities
    • Serious sensory issues

Each chapter tackles a different hard issue, such as how to respond to impulsive aggression and self-harming, how seriously you should take suicidal thoughts or threats, what to do about your child's lack of positive and consistent friendships, how to deal with the homework nightmare, and how to reduce family conflict to have a more peaceful household. Unpacking common misconceptions with scientific evidence, Dr. Boyd empowers families to support strengths and work through challenges together.

Every parent wants to see their child happy and successful. This book can prepare you to improve your child's life, bolster family relationships, and help your child with ADHD reach their full potential.
